People are indeed indulging themselves too much with IM, and I agree that “countless hours of time during the workday that would otherwise have been productive” is being wasted. I also agree with your argument that IM is a technical innovation which facilities communication. What I like about you as a writer is that you are able to hold your arguments together well throughout the post and back them up with solid data. You also nicely bring your discussion to a close by saying that it is up to the business owner and the readers to decide whether or not to make use of IM in their place of work.
